Kraigermeister: Skater Of The Month: March 2011

Our skater of the month for March is Kraigermeister. He is a Springdale native who is self employed as a Communications Engineer. He has been married for 11 years and the proud father of two boys, Ben and Nick. Off the track Kraiger enjoys spending time on local rivers in his kayak. Kraiger was recruited by a fellow referee over a year ago and has been enjoying derby ever since. Not only is Kraiger our top jammer referee, he also is the head of our sponsorship committee. This is a very important job and he has been as asset for our league in every capacity. Kraiger is also known for a gruesome compound fracture to his left thumb while officiating his very first roller derby bout. Give Kraiger a big congrats and remind him “thumbs in”. Thanks Kraiger for all you...

Devil’s Reject: Skater Of The Month: February 2011

Devil’s Reject has been on league  since 2010 and has recently stepped up as  NWARD PR Director.  When she isn’t busy talking to radio stations or graphic artists, arranging photo shoots or organizing bout flyers, she plays for the NWARD home team, the Pistol Whips as number B29.  Devil’s Reject loves roller derby because it’s the one place where she can focus on herself, improving her skating skills, and being a part of her derby family. Devil’s Reject was a key player in making the first home bout a sold out event through her networking with the community and dedication to the league. Devil’s Reject has lived in many different cities but calls Fayetteville her home. She currently works in Benton County as a Substance Abuse Counselor. Off skates, Reject loves to read, cook and travel. Reject has been and continues to be a great asset to the league and we are happy to have her. If you see her, tell her congratulations and thank you for being a great part of...

Skater Of The Month

Starting the New Year off right, January’s skater of the month is The Professional.  The Professional is married to Jehiah and has two beautiful daughters, Shannon and Pyper.  Working as a psycho-therapist at OGC with the ACT program in Springdale, you can understand why she is “The Professional”. Pro has been with our league from its beginning.  Pro has played almost every role that can be played for Northwest Arkansas Rollerderby on and off the bouting floor.  Pro was involved with our leagues very first team drafts deciding the first two teams of the Hardwood Harlots and the undefeated Twisted Sisters in 2006.  Pro created the league pregnancy clause and has written and helped create our leagues bylaws that keep us a running and functioning organization. Serving one season as Captain of the Arkansas Killbillies, and currently serving her third season as Inter League Lesion, we owe our gratitude to The Professional for all of her hard work and dedication to our league over the years of its establishment.  She currently skates for the Heartbreak Rollers and continues to be one super huge threat to any opponent on eight wheels. Look for The Professional #73 to give one serious beat down in 2011!  Thank you...

Skater Of The Month

Noah Tall has been a part of NWARD since its inception in the Spring of 2006. She began as a member of the Hardwood Harlots, then the Backwoods Betties but has long since turned in her jerseys for stripes – that’s right, Noah Tall is NWARD Head Referee. Noah barely misses a practice. Armed with her whistle, timer, and zebra-stripes, she teaches NWARD skaters, new and old, the rules of the game and hopefully how to avoid penalties! Noah’s favorite thing about roller derby: “I love that there is always someone there who has been where you are, who will listen to you, encourage you, and even tell you when you are being stupid.” Off-skates, Noah is a mother of 2 and has been married for 14 years to her loving husband. You might spy her at a renaissance fair, at her computer or watching sci-fi. We salute you, Noah, and your fierce dedication to the sport of roller derby. And thank you for making us better...

Skater Of The Month

Originally from Uxbridge, Ontario, Slamerella is a veteran transfer from Providence Roller Derby who hit the ground skating as soon as she moved to NWA in the summer of 2010. Slamerella is team captain of the Heartbreak Rollers and recently won the NWARD 2010 award for best attitude! Slamerella’s favorite things about rollerderby include teamwork, cardio, uniforms, black eyes, broken wrists, yelling with a mouth guard in, and of course the ladies that help keep her skating: Sham, dukes, Knifey, her rat sista’s from PRD and her new derb family NWARD!! A great asset to our league both on and off the track, she’s also active on the Sponsorship Committee.  Off skates she enjoys spending time with her husband Tim, walking the dogs, and doing derby crafts. Congratulations to Slamerella, our November Skater of the...

Skater Of The Month

Core Rage Don’t get her mad – she’s hard core – she’s CORE RAGE!! Even before this ex-Houstonite first tried out for NWA Roller Derby in March 2010, Core Rage proved to be a valuable member of the league.  Core Rage was a diligent and hard-working member of the Sponsorship Committee and has recently stepped up as Head of the Events Committee.  Her committee is in charge of all NWARD event planning including bout production and fundraising.  We couldn’t do without her!  Besides her invaluable organizational skills, Core Rage is also a fiercely dedicated skater.  Pushing herself through injuries (under medical supervision), she attends practices even if she isn’t skating.  According to her: “What I love about Roller Derby is the challenge.  Everyday I step on that floor I am challenged to push myself physically harder than I thought I could.  But the bigger challenge for me is how it forces me to push myself mentally.  I am finding there is no room for self-doubt in derby; if you think you can’t, you won’t.  Period.  So get over it and do it.” Off-skates, Core Rage is a wife and mother.  She loves to read, travel, photography, and enjoys hiking and camping. Thank you for being you, Core Rage, and congratulations on being our October NWARD Skater of the...
